Well everyone, I’m sad to see it go, but it had to. I officially closed the store today. It was just too much to run with a baby and a full time job. I had a lot of fun doing it for the last two years and I have a great personal stash now. You can still contact me at mail@seweuro.com and if you missed out on some fabric you really need, feel free to email me, I’m sure we can work it out.

Happy New Year everyone! I’ve finally finished some sewing projects and am in the mood for stash reduction this coming year. Above is an outfit I finished for my bebe due in mid-March - it’s the knee pants from the 4/06 issue of Ottobre and the kimono tee from the 1/06 issue - I plan on whipping out some more of both of these. I’ve been running on empty as of late, but have some updates and specials planned for the store in the upcoming month and will be expecting spring fabric to arrive as well.

Baby present for Baby Mushrush is finally finished. I machine quilted it myself on my own machine, so it took me about 2 weeks of procrastination to finally get over my nervousness and try quilting. It turned out really well I think, for no special laser foot and no experience freehand quilting - I’m ready to tackle other quilting projects now.

The baby sewing has begun - I made 5 of these in one weekend from a Kwik Sew pattern. I also did some matching cardigans and pants which have yet to be finished. I love this Compan stripe! I just hope that the baby will fit into these for longer than a few weeks.

Hedgehog quilt (baby quilt #1) is all pieced together and ready to be quilted. This will be my first attempt at free motion quilting. I got a book from Amazon this week and a new foot for my new Bernina. Now, all I have to do is practice first.

OK - I know about 5 pregnant women right now, I’m going to buy baby quilt batting in bulk. Up top is the start of quilt #1 for a certain baby due October 29th (yes, I know it’s cutting it close now). His/Her mom used to own a hedgehog which I took care of one summer for her, hence the theme. I also splurged on some Japanese hedgehog fabric that I had nothing to do with and I figured a way to use up some of the bolts of Katie Jump Rope taking up room in my closet. I machine appliqued this - I love, love, love my new Bernina - using one of the fancy-schmancy applique stitches I would have normally spent hours doing by hand. I’m going to try and quilt this myself on the new machine and try something other than stitch-in-the-ditch. Yes, October 29th will be pushing it…

The fall and winter fabric has arrived. Everything is posted in the store and in stock. Not only did I manage to get it all posted and sorted this weekend, but I also managed to actually sew something. I finally tried the t-shirt from Ottobre Woman 2/07 - the 3/4th length sleeve version. I tried last year’s version and hated the fit so much I didn’t finish it. I don’t know if it was that I cut out the wrong size or used pink striped fabric, but I decided it was a wadder before finishing the binding. I love this version though - perfect fit I’d say. I’m not crazy about elastic and gathering around the sleeves, so I’m glad that they included this sleeve in the pattern too. I’ll be making more of these and hopefully lengthening the sleeve to make some winter t’s as well. Thumbs up on this one!

We’re back from Scotland - had a wonderful time. The castle above is the Eileen Doonan castle on Loch Alsh, which we had not planned on visiting, but didn’t have a place to stay one night, so we drove about 2 hours out of the way, and ended up with at this beautiful scene. Sometimes happy accidents happen when you don’t plan ahead.
I will have all the orders placed while we were gone out in tomorrow’s mail. Also, the rest of the fall fabrics will be arriving shortly as well and I expect to have them by the beginning of next week. I can’t wait to get back to my sewing projects. Just before we left, I got a new Bernina Aurora 430 and I can’t wait to try it out. It’s way more sophisticated than my Viking mechanical, so I really don’t know how to use it yet, but I have lots of projects that are in need of finishing. And I’m also looking forward to the new Ottobre Woman, which is scheduled to come out next week as well. I will post updates soon!

I’m on a Lotus kick here - I finished up the lap quilt from the Amy Butler site, which I love. I’ll definitely be making two more of these as gifts, it goes together VERY quickly. I also made Rory a dog bed cover from left overs, which I love - I call this a doggy duvet. I want one now. I can’t believe I finished this project either. I ordered the dog a bed insert, but was too cheap to order the cover for $65 - thinking, I can make this in no time for a fraction of the cost. Needless to say, the bed has been laying on the floor with a piece of fleece draped over it for the last nine months. The dog may be compleletly emasculated, but he looks adorable in his new Amy Butler bed!
